Braces Parts

- BAND- a ring of metal that surrounds a tooth with a tube or bracket attached.
- ATTACHMENT- is tube or bracket welded to a band.
- BRACKET- a groved piece attached to to a band or a tooth that holds the main wire.
- ARCHWIRE- the main wire that is connected to all the teeth and upon which the teeth slide like a train on rails.
- LIGATURE- wire or rubber connectors that tie or lash the archwire into the groove on each bracket.
- HOOKS- metal extensions which are used to attach rubber bands to the braces.
- SPRING- placed on the archwire between to brackets in order to push teeth next to the spring apart or pull two teeth together.
- TUBE- a pipe into which the archwire or night brace may be inserted.
